You're on your way, Kid!

Intermediate Camp is for campers ages 10 to 17 who have previously attended our circus camp sessions for at least two seasons, or who otherwise meet the skill level required. Prior training or other experience with acrobatics and aerials is needed. Campers in this session must also have at least one previous overnight camping experience.

Enrollment of all campers is at the discretion of the Camp Co-Directors.

Here's How
New applicants to Intermediate Camp (those who've not previously attended Smirkus Camp), need to submit with their application a note outlining their prior circus training and detailing their circus skills.

Campers in this session will receive instruction in all the different areas of circus arts (click here for a list of skills taught at Smirkus Camp). Campers will spend more time training in the tents and start off at a higher skill level than in the circus camp sessions .

A Day in the Life
Campers train for 5-6 hours each full day of camp. Late afternoon is recreation time with games, arts & crafts and other traditional camp activities, followed by free time in the dorms. Dinner dress for campers and staff is theme-oriented with awards for the most original or creative outfits. Evening activities include movie night, staff talent show, and much more with a dance on the final night.

The first Saturday of the session is a day off from training and is spent away from camp at a local beach (if weather permits), or visiting an area attraction.

Show Time
During the second week of camp, training continues and work begins on creating an awesome circus show to perform for the campers' families and friends. The show takes place on the last day of camp, which is a Friday, in the late afternoon.

Which Camp is Best for You? Choose from 2-day to 2-week residential sessions for ages 6 to 18, with beginning to advanced skillls. Smirkling Camp Two-day (one-night) introductory sleepaway camp for kids 6 to 9 years old. Smirkus Camp (Sessions I, II & III) 1- and 2-week sleep-away sessions for campers ages 8 to 16 with beginning to advanced skill levels. Intermediate Camp For ages 10 to 17 who have previously attended Circus Camp for at least two seasons, or have equivalent skills. Advanced Camp Campers ages 14 to 18 with advanced circus skills audition for 45 places.
