A camp counselor at Summer
Circus Camp
is responsible for the care, safety, comfort, behavior,
and morale of the campers.
DUTIES:
1. Provide support and guidance for the campers.
Develop appropriate positive relationships with all
campers within your counselor group. Be available
to listen to concerns, issues, and problems. Help
negotiate disputes. Provide counseling where appropriate.
Be aware of and sensitive to issues before they become
problems. Communicate any camper interactions, concerns
or accomplishments to the Assistant Director.
2. Maintain daily open communication with Camp Director
and Assistant Director.
3. Instruct campers of safety procedures such as
but not limited to fire drills, evacuation of the
tents and evacuation of the dining hall.
4. Supervise all assigned aspects of the campers’
day including hygiene, transitions, and meals.
5. Assist coaches with camper issues, spotting and
supervision within the training sessions. Maintain
open communication with all coaching staff. Report
any camper concerns that may effect training to coaching
Team Leaders.
6. Assist Program Director as needed in general activities.
Display enthusiasm for meal dress-ups, general programs
and circus training sessions. Motivate campers to
participate fully. Provide creative ideas for campers
regarding meal dress-ups and general programs.
7. Inform Head Cook of any food-related allergies
or preferences. Monitor camper eating habits at meals
and in dorms. Notify Health Professional and Camp
Director of any unhealthy eating patterns.
8. Inform Health Professional and Assistant Director
of camper illness or injury immediately. Monitor camper
illness or injury as instructed by the Health Professional.
9. Participate in morning and afternoon on-duty rotation.
Participate in night duty rotation. Participate in
staff orientation sessions.
10. Oversee the completion of camper daily chores.
Provide appropriate instruction and motivation during
chores.
11. Be a positive roll model for campers, Jr. Counselors
and CITs.
